Character Matters

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”

Psalm 1:1-3

Every true believer who is a real worshipper of God understands our “character” matters to God. God is concerned about who we become.  God desires for each of us to become Christ-like. “Why is the issue of

Moral Character so important?” Let us not be set back by the question, but realize that it is the result of our failure to speak “Truth” in these troubling times. Now more than ever it is critical for Christians to understand the importance of “Godly Moral Character” as individuals and as the Church that Christ gave his life for! “Faith” in God demands “Godly Moral Character” because it says that we have a right relationship

with God! The presence and reality of “Godly Moral Character” is the evidence of the maturing of our faith resulting in a sustained and growing relationship with God. The blessedness of the opening verse of our meditation has nothing to do with receiving some material blessing, but is the blessedness of having a right relationship with God which produces a “Godly Moral Character” exemplified by Godly living. The right relationship produces a new attitude from a mind that has been transformed by the Word of God. The right relationship produces a heart filled with the love of God experienced through a daily walk with Christ. The right relationship produces “Godly Moral Character” as the Holy Spirit transforms us into the image of His Son. The psalmist simply says to us that the result of a living, learning, and growing “Faith” is a “Godly Character” that allows us to live in a right relationship with God which shapes and determines our destiny. Collectively as the Church it is God’s glory expressed in our “Godly Moral Character” that attracts the unsaved, because they see real evidence that there is a better choice and a better way.

Trust in The Lord

It’s simple. It’s short. Yet it’s incredibly powerful. Proverbs 3:5-6 is one of the most familiar passages in the Bible–with good reason. It sets forth a life-changing truth that is worthy of our attention. Spend three minutes reading this article, and see if you agree.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Trust in the Lord.

It starts with trust. Any real relationship has to start with some level of trust. It’s the only way a friendship will endure. It’s the only way a marriage will work out. It’s the simple reason why an employer hires workers, or why the workers stay employed. It’s all about trust. Trust in the Lord, however, takes on an entirely new dimension. This is our trust in an eternal, all-powerful, all-wise, all-loving God. He is worthy of our trust. The trust is important, not just because of who God is, but because of the way in which we must trust him: with all your heart. It involves every fiber of your being. That’s the kind of trust we can have in God–a complete, unshakable, deep, abiding trust.
